BALLROOM CLASSES FOR KIDS IN COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS

If your kids love to dance, bring them to ballroom dancing classes at Quickstep! Our studio in Sandy is right next door to Cottonwood Heights, so the location is easy and convenient. Your child will love ballroom dance lessons, and taking our classes will help them with poise, confidence and agility.

ARE BALLROOM LESSONS RIGHT FOR MY CHILD?

Some children naturally gravitate to sports, but for many children, the perfect extracurricular activity for them is not apparent. You may try horseback riding lessons, figure drawing or arts and crafts classes, only to have nothing stick. Your child wants to find an activity they love as much as you want them to find one. If they enjoy moving their body, ballroom dance classes for kids might be for them.

Some parents erroneously believe their child must show some type of affinity for ballroom dancing in order to sign up. In fact, the opposite is true. If your child seems uncoordinated or lethargic, ballroom dance lessons can help them overcome this. As long as they have interest in ballroom classes, we’ll take it from there.

BALLROOM DANCE TEAM

In our ballroom dance classes for kids, we keep an eye out for dancers who would be a good fit for our ballroom dance team. Our ballroom dance team competes throughout the area, winning ribbons, medals and trophies. For those who love competition, ballroom dance team is an excellent outlet.

Placement on our ballroom dance team is by audition only. We may invite your child to audition, or they may simply choose to audition on their own. If your child has their heart set on ballroom dance team, you may want to sign them up for supplemental instruction, such as ballet, tap, jazz and tumbling classes.

THE BENEFITS OF BALLROOM CLASSES FOR KIDS

Ballroom dancing is a niche activity. While many little girls don tutus and practice pirouettes, ballroom dancing is less mainstream and more specialized. One reason for this is because it is partner dancing, which is a less common form of dancing, especially among children. For this reason, kids who take ballroom dance lessons have a skillset many others don’t, which is great for your child’s college resume.

Not every child will go on to qualify for the ballroom dance team, and that is just fine. Not everyone enjoys the pressure of competition. Children in Cottonwood Heights and the surrounding area still get many benefits from ballroom dancing classes. They learn to be graceful and light on their feet, and this translates to other types of dance as well as simply improving how they carry themselves. Part of this equation includes the confidence they derive from learning ballroom dance — confidence that helps them get through the tween and teen years.

Additionally, ballroom dancing is an excellent form of exercise. You don’t need to jump hurdles or score goals to get exercise — ballroom dance is a great workout for kids who hate sports.

If you live in Cottonwood Heights, sign you children up for ballroom dancing at Quickstep Dance Studio.
